Goodbye, Jack. We love you.

Hello friends, family, and all of you who have LaPerla in your hearts.
Our dear friend and the absolute pillar of the LaPerla community, Jack Arriaga, passed away last evening in Pucallpa.  If you read this blog you know that Jack is the heart and soul of the FH community in LaPerla.  He was a vibrant young man with a passionate heart to serve others.  A few years ago he left a lucrative job in Lima to go to Pucallpa and spend his life serving others instead of himself.  He knew every single child and family in LaPerla.  Helping raise this community out of poverty and enrich their lives physically, emotionally, and spiritually was his daily labor. Jack Arriaga was my best friend in LaPerla…..he was truly an amazing man.
A month ago today was the day that Jack spent his whole day from 7-7 working with Jenn and I as he took us to meet sponsor kids and led the mother’s reflection group.  He preached to those women about God’s love for them and how special each one of them was.  We got to spend a lot of time with Jack on Jenn and I’s trip last month.  When we hugged goodbye the last night, I was able to hold his shoulders and look him in the eye and say “We are so blessed to have you.  The people of LaPerla are blessed to have you.  Thank you so much for your willingness to be a servant of God.” Jack loved the Lord so much and was truly a good and faithful servant.
Along with Jack’s family and friends, this is a massive blow to the people of LaPerla and the work FH is doing there.  While you pray for Jack’s friends and family please also pray fervently that the right person or people will be found to fill the massive hole left by Jack’s all-too-early passing.
I’m still in a bit of shock, and I’m full of sorrow at the loss of my friend…..but I’m not sad for Jack.  Not one little bit.

God is real and Heaven is real and Jack is in reality in the very presence of God.
