We’re going back in November!

There is some very exciting news to announce!  Actually, I guess if you read the headline for this entry you already know!  Jenn and I will be returning to LaPerla in November!

At this point in time we already know that we will be getting to spend a lot of quality time in LaPerla.  Of course we’re going to get to go visit a lot of the kids that our friends and family sponsor, and we’re also going to be doing some work!  One of the specific things we are going to get to do is to spend an afternoon with the young adults that have received scholarships through FH.  Jenn and I have taken this specific cause up because we believe that one of the most powerful way to combat poverty is with a higher education, and these 20 students now have the opportunity to be the 1st ones in their families to go to college!  Jenn and I were able to raise the money for this year’s scholarships through an amazing donation from a Christian Foundation, and we are hoping that by getting to meet these kids in person and hear some of their stories we might be better equipped as we return and continue to try to find ways to raise the money to cover the scholarships next year!

We are going to be staying with our friend Rachel.  She’s an amazing woman and a great friend and we can’t wait to see her again!

One last thing – some of you have asked where exactly it is that we are working.  Well, here you go!  Check this out – google maps is so cool!  http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=pucallpa+peru&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=51.488837,113.115234&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Pucallpa,+Peru&ll=-8.36589,-74.586713&spn=0.003965,0.006904&t=k&z=18

Finally! Some photos from our medical clinic!

We finally gathered our photos together and I was able to grab a few of the great stills taken of our team working  at a medical clinic right on the town square in LaPerla.  I know I typed about it a little back during the trip, but it really is just too hard to explain what an amazing job everyone on the team did to be able to work together to help these people.  The planning and preparation by Jason, Chrisi, and Katie was absolutely amazing and it really helped keep everything moving really well.  Everyone else joined in with Pam, Kim, and Jenn being amazing pharmacists and Alfred helping with translation in the diagnosis department.  It was an amazing time, and we were all so grateful for the priviledge of getting to serve this amazing community.
